Okja, The Film About A Girl And Her Best Friend; A Super Pig

Recently, I watched Okja. The Netflix film full of heart about a girl and her best friend; a super pig.

For 10 years, Mija has been carer and companion to Okja, a huge super pig at her home in the mountains of South Korea. Mirando Corporation, a multinational family owned business take Okja away, transporting her to New York where they have big plans for Mija’s best friend. Mija sets out on a rescue mission with no particular plan in mind and crosses paths with consumers and capitalists to get her dearest friend home.

This movie showed me how fast the world is, always looking for quick fixes. A world where temporary remedies fail to address underlying problems. Often mass producing to keep up with such high demands. We are often so busy immersed in our own lives that we forget to look at the world around us, the environment, the people, the workers.

I highly recommend watching Okja (you can find it on Netflix.) Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
